GoLemon to Launch Next-Day Delivery, Reducing Wait Time by Over 40%

GoLemon, a Nigerian grocery delivery startup is set to roll out next-day delivery, a move that promises to cut delivery times by over 40%. Currently, customers wait up to two days for their orders, but starting next week, this will change as GoLemon, founded by four former Paystack employees, accelerates its logistics operations.

24/7 Overnight Processing Is The Way Forward

To meet the demands of next-day delivery, GoLemon will operate 24/7, taking onboard overnight processing. “Our new operations include overnight picking, packing, early morning quality checks, and real-time inventory management,” co-founder Abdulrahman Jogbojogbo explained. This shift is anticipated to help GoLemon compete with established players like Mano and Chowdeck, known for their quick deliveries.

GoLemon is also beefing up its tech systems to improve order tracking and team communication. The previous Slack-based approach will be replaced with a customized dashboard, streamlining the flow of information across their logistics team, who will now work in shifts to ensure round-the-clock availability.

While the faster delivery may increase operational costs, GoLemon remains committed to keeping its delivery fees unchanged and maintaining a focus on affordability. CEO Yinka Adewuyi revealed that GoLemon’s customers often make bulk purchases with an average basket size of ₦50,000. This customer base values quality and affordability, allowing GoLemon to arrange deliveries by proximity and offer competitive fees as low as ₦300.

Keeping Up With The Competition

As quick delivery becomes a fixture in Nigeria’s grocery market, companies like Chowdeck and Mano have set high expectations by delivering in under an hour from nearby stores. GoLemon, however, has stayed on track with its original plan, which involves creating partnerships directly with farmers and manufacturers to prioritize quality.

“Our goal isn’t just fast delivery but providing a balanced and affordable grocery experience,” Jogbojogbo emphasized. With a predictive stocking model, GoLemon ensures it has the right items in stock, aiding efficient order fulfillment and reducing wait times for its growing customer base.

What’s Next For GoLemon?

For GoLemon, the new next-day delivery feature is expected to level the playing field as the company continues to expand in Nigeria’s competitive grocery delivery market.
