The Timbuktoo HealthTech Hub, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the timbuktoo Africa Innovation Foundation, has selected 15 promising startups to advance to the Acceleration Phase of its flagship programme. This milestone comes after an intensive bootcamp that initially brought together 40 Pan-African innovators in November 2024. The selected startups are now poised to drive groundbreaking advancements in telemedicine, diagnostics, healthcare logistics, and mobile health.

The journey began with 40 startups undergoing a rigorous selection process that assessed their business models, team capacity, and development stage. As a result, 15 high-growth startups earned a place in the next phase, while five early-stage startups—still at the Pre-MVP stage—will participate in a specialised programme designed to support their product development and prepare them for market entry.

Starting in January, the Acceleration Phase will provide these startups with mentorship, expert guidance, funding, and cutting-edge resources to help them scale their innovations and address Africa’s most urgent healthcare challenges. Each of the 15 selected startups will receive $25,000 in funding, while the five Pre-MVP startups will receive $5,000 to aid in their development. This initiative underscores a commitment to fostering sustainable and inclusive healthcare solutions that can create a lasting impact across the continent.

The 15 startups represent diverse regions across Africa, each bringing unique solutions aimed at reshaping the future of healthcare. Their participation in the Acceleration Phase marks a crucial step in the journey toward accessible, technology-driven healthcare services that cater to the needs of millions.
