Bolt has introduced a new safety feature, Trusted Contacts, designed to enhance emergency response during rides. The feature allows both drivers and passengers to add family or friends to their accounts, ensuring quicker intervention if they become unreachable.
A Step Forward in Ride Safety
As part of its ongoing investment in security measures, Bolt has committed €100 million over three years to improve ride safety. The Trusted Contacts feature builds on the company’s existing safety tools, such as Ride Check, Share Location, and Emergency Assist.
Ride Check detects unusual trip patterns, Emergency Assist discreetly contacts security teams, and Share Location enables real-time tracking. Now, with Trusted Contacts, Bolt’s Safety Team can escalate emergency alerts to a trusted friend or family member when the account holder is unresponsive.
Osi Oguah, General Manager at Bolt, highlighted the importance of this update: “With Trusted Contacts, we aim to build on our Safety Team’s existing efforts by ensuring we can quickly escalate a Ride Check notification or Emergency Assist request to a friend or family member if we can’t get a hold of the Bolt account holders, themselves.”
This latest enhancement is part of Bolt’s broader strategy to refine its security ecosystem. The company continues to roll out innovative features aimed at providing both riders and drivers with a safer, more seamless experience.
