Fifteen Nigerian tech companies have been named finalists for the first-ever Africa Tech Summit Awards, joining a total of 55 startups from across the continent. The awards, set to take place on 13 February in Nairobi, Kenya, will honour businesses driving technological advancement in Africa. Techstoriex previously reported late last year about preparations kicking off for the glorious event that is now in a matter of hours.
Lauren Adair, Director of the Africa Tech Summit, expressed excitement over the finalists. “With over 300 entries, narrowing down the list was no easy feat. Each finalist is making a tangible impact in their sector, and we can’t wait to celebrate their achievements in Nairobi next month,” she stated.
The selection process focused on innovation, scalability, and impact on the African market. Nigerian startups emerged strong in several categories, reinforcing the country’s reputation as a key player in Africa’s tech evolution.
Nigerian Startups Leading the Way
In the agritech category, AFEX and Winich Farms secured finalist spots. AFEX operates a commodities exchange that connects farmers to markets and funding, improving food security and agricultural trade. Winich Farms provides a direct link between farmers and buyers, streamlining the supply chain and reducing food waste.
Nigeria also saw recognition in climate tech, with Instollar Technologies and Sabi making the finalist list. Instollar Technologies focuses on solar energy solutions to address the country’s ongoing power challenges, while Sabi facilitates the distribution of goods and services for informal traders through its business-to-business platform.
The strong presence of Nigerian companies in the awards highlights the country’s role in shaping Africa’s tech-driven future. As the summit approaches, all eyes will be on Nairobi to see which startups emerge victorious.
