MTN Foundation Opens 2025 Scholarship Applications

April 11, 2025 3:46 pm

The MTN Foundation has officially opened applications for its 2025 scholarship programme. This annual programme shows MTN’s strong commitment to promoting education in Nigeria. It focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), while also supporting academic excellence and inclusion. The programme empowers bright students, including those who are visually impaired.

MTN offers three scholarship categories every year. The first is the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS), which is available to 300-level students in Science or Technology-related fields. To qualify, students must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 or Second Class Upper.

The second is the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS). This category supports blind students in their 200 level with a CGPA of at least 2.5. The third category is the Top 10 UTME Scholarship, which automatically goes to the ten students with the highest scores in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), as announced by JAMB.

Over the past 15 years, the MTN Foundation has awarded scholarships to more than 14,728 students, with a total value of over ₦3 billion. In addition to financial aid, the foundation gives students access to mentorship, internships, and digital skills training. These opportunities help them gain practical knowledge for today’s job market.

Since 2024, MTN has increased the scholarship amount from ₦200,000 to ₦300,000 per year. Scholars who maintain their grades will continue to receive the scholarship yearly until they graduate.

MTN Foundation’s Executive Director, Odunayo Sanya, emphasized the importance of the programme, saying it is more than just financial help. She says the scholarship helps build Nigeria’s future leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers.

MTN’s 2025 scholarship programme is part of its wider effort to improve education and give talented students across Nigeria equal opportunities.
