Google is giving creators, designers, and AI enthusiasts a treat. The company has unveiled its advanced Imagen 4 text-to-image model, now available for free — but only through its AI Studio platform and for a limited time.

In a recent blog update, Google described Imagen 4 as a major step forward in image generation. The model builds on its predecessor with stronger capabilities, especially in how well it renders text inside images — a weakness many previous tools struggled with.

For those eager to test the waters, Google has waived the cost temporarily. However, once the trial ends, usage of Imagen 4 will cost $0.04 per image, while the higher-tier Imagen 4 Ultra will go for $0.06 per image.

Why Imagen 4 Stands Out for Google?

Unlike older versions, Imagen 4 is optimised for broad creative tasks. Google says it offers “significant improvements in quality, particularly for text generation, over Imagen 3.”

For more refined outputs, Imagen 4 Ultra enters the frame. It handles more detailed prompts and delivers sharper, more precise visuals. This level of precision is what makes it ideal for commercial creatives and professionals who need dependable text-to-image performance.

Although Gemini, Google’s own AI chatbot, doesn’t yet support Imagen 4, it’s expected to gain access soon — but only for paying users.

Google hasn’t confirmed exactly how long the free access will last, so early adopters might want to explore the tool before the clock runs out.
