Glovo has teamed up with GITEX Nigeria Tech Expo & Future Economy Summit to give one Nigerian tech founder the chance to join its 2025 Startup Campus in Barcelona. The programme, now in its third edition, will run in October and brings together startups from key markets for mentoring, networking, and strategy sessions aimed at scaling solutions for global impact.
The winner will be chosen during the Startup Festival segment of GITEX Nigeria. This marks the first time a Nigerian entrepreneur will compete for a spot at the event.
Mentorship and Global Exposure Await
Glovo’s Startup Campus annually selects founders through local startup competitions. Last year, 16 startups from four countries took part, with 21 participants engaging in one-on-one sessions with Impact Hub, and pitching to three venture capitalists. They also gained insights from 20 mentors, including vice presidents and board members of top-tier companies.
Glovo Nigeria’s General Manager, Lamide Akinola, said the partnership with GITEX reflects the company’s commitment to Africa’s rapidly evolving tech scene. “It’s exciting to see many entrepreneurs, investors, and tech leaders come together to co-create solutions to uniquely African challenges,” she said.
She added that the 2025 Startup Festival is a platform for discussing digital inclusion, sustainable logistics, and how platform-based businesses can drive economic growth. “I’m particularly eager to explore partnerships and policy frameworks that can unlock the next wave of e-commerce potential in Nigeria and beyond,” Akinola noted.
The inclusion of a Nigerian founder this year signals Glovo’s intent to strengthen local entrepreneurial ecosystems. Selected participants gain access to international best practices, high-level mentorship, and entry into a global innovation network.
