OPay has deepened its reach in Nigeria with a new office in Ibadan, marking another step in its drive to push financial inclusion and support millions of users who rely on its digital services. The launch brought together business leaders, partners and merchants who described the opening as a welcome boost for easier, safer and more reliable financial access.
Although the fintech giant is known for its strong online presence, the new Ibadan branch is expected to serve as a major support point for merchants, SMEs and corporate users across Oyo State. The company believes that meeting customers physically is still essential in a market where trust and support often require face-to-face reassurance.
A Physical Boost for OPay’s Growing Network
Speaking during the launch, Chief Commercial Officer of OPay Digital Services Limited, Elizabeth Wang, said the new branch reflects the company’s long-term plan to expand OPay services across the country. She explained that while online interactions dominate, many Nigerians still want spaces where they can speak directly to service teams.
“The Ibadan launch represents an important step in our mission to bring world-class financial services closer to Nigerians,” she said. “This new office ensures that every customer, regardless of their preferred channel, can access reliable support and a seamless service experience.”
Wang added that OPay intends to upgrade all its nationwide outlets between this year and next year, noting that although the company has operated in Ibadan before now, the new facility reflects a much higher standard.
She also noted the firm’s renewed focus on security, saying users can expect more advanced protection including Face ID authentication and other technology aimed at safer transactions.
Stronger Customer Engagement for a Wider Market
The Head of Partnership at OPay, Odiase Ikponmwosa, said the new Ibadan office was created to strengthen the company’s connection with users and improve support across all touchpoints.
“With this new office, customers can expect enhanced service and stronger engagement,” he said. “This new facility in Ibadan brings us even closer to them and reflects our long-term commitment to support their growth.”
Ikponmwosa explained that OPay is preparing to roll out wider partnership programmes, more support initiatives and deeper collaboration with merchants as it expands its footprint across Nigeria.
The new branch will also support product demonstrations, quicker issue resolution and wider merchant onboarding. According to the company, this aligns with its broader strategy to support digital commerce, youth entrepreneurship and SMEs with tools that are both secure and accessible.
OPay, which launched in 2018, has grown into one of Nigeria’s biggest fintech operators, offering payments, transfers, savings, lending and merchant solutions. It operates under a Central Bank of Nigeria licence and is insured by the NDIC. The firm said the Ibadan expansion reinforces its mission to simplify financial services and create wider economic opportunities nationwide.
