WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging app, has introduced a groundbreaking feature: voice message transcription. This feature allows users to read the text version of voice messages, saving time and effort.
How It Works
To enable this feature, users need to navigate to Settings > Chats and toggle on “Voice message transcripts“. Once activated, long-pressing on any voice message will display a “Transcribe” option. The transcription process occurs directly on the user’s device, ensuring privacy.
Language Support
While the feature is currently rolling out globally, it’s initially available in select languages. iOS users on iOS 16 and above can enjoy transcriptions in languages such as English, Spanish, and French. iOS 17 users have access to an expanded list, including Danish, Hebrew, and more.
Android users can currently transcribe voice messages in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian, with additional languages to be added in the future
A Step Ahead
WhatsApp’s voice message transcription feature mirrors a similar functionality introduced by Apple with iOS 17. This movebshows WhatsApp has maintained consistency by staying ahead of the curve and providing brilliant solutions for its users.
