iPhone SE 4 against an Abstract Background

Apple is preparing to launch its next iPhone, but it’s not the iPhone 17. Instead, the highly anticipated iPhone SE 4 is expected to make its debut next week. This will be the fourth generation of the “Special Edition” iPhone, arriving three years after its last update. The SE series is known for being the most affordable iPhone, and rumors suggest this new model will cost around $499. If true, this would be a slight increase from the $429 price of the 2022 model.

One of the biggest changes expected in the iPhone SE 4 is its design. Unlike its predecessor, which had a 4.7-inch LCD screen, this new model is rumored to feature a 6.1-inch OLED display. This would mark a major shift, bringing it closer in size to Apple’s flagship devices. Another big change is the removal of the Home button. Apple is reportedly replacing Touch ID with Face ID, making this the first SE model to adopt facial recognition.

Charging is also expected to get an upgrade. The iPhone SE 4 will likely feature USB-C and MagSafe, making it compatible with Apple’s newer charging technology. Under the hood, it’s rumored to be powered by Apple’s A18 chip, the same processor expected in the iPhone 16. This would give it access to Apple Intelligence, the company’s AI-driven features. However, unlike the iPhone 16, the SE 4 is not expected to include the new Camera Control button, it won’t support Apple’s Visual Intelligence feature for object recognition through the camera.

The iPhone SE 4 was initially rumored to launch this past week. However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman now says Apple has delayed the release to next week. Apple CEO Tim Cook appeared to confirm this on X, stating that a new product launch will be on Wednesday, February 19.

With a larger display, updated design, and improved performance, the iPhone SE 4 is a good departure and the biggest upgrade in the SE lineup yet. Now, all eyes are on Apple’s upcoming event to see if the rumors hold.
