Rack Centre, a top data centre provider in West Africa, has launched a powerful new 12MW IT load data facility to boost Nigeria’s digital infrastructure. The new facility, called LGS2, sits at the company’s headquarters on Lagos Mainland and greatly increases the nation’s capacity to support growing demand for secure and scalable digital services.
With this launch, Rack Centre has expanded its data capacity eightfold. The company now offers large-scale digital solutions to cloud providers, financial institutions, and major enterprises across Nigeria and the wider West African region.
Chairman of Rack Centre, Maher Jarmakani, explained that the LGS2 facility is the only data centre of its kind on the Lagos Mainland. He said the centre provides unmatched connectivity and supports businesses and government agencies in moving data quickly and safely.
“Our infrastructure helps connect companies, cloud platforms, and innovative ideas to power a more advanced society,” Jarmakani stated.
The new facility also stands out for its energy efficiency and ability to scale. It supports hyperscalers—large cloud service providers—as well as financial firms, reinforcing Rack Centre’s leadership in sub-Saharan Africa’s digital space.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Sam Egube, praised Rack Centre for building a sustainable and energy-efficient facility. He noted that the new hub helps position Lagos as a key destination for global investors interested in digital transformation.
“This facility sets Lagos apart as a growing technology hub,” Egube said. “Rack Centre is playing a major role in Nigeria’s rise as a tech leader.”
Rack Centre’s CEO, Lars Johannisson, said the launch marks a new phase in Nigeria’s digital journey, driven by sustainability and artificial intelligence (AI). He credited Lagos State for creating a supportive environment for tech growth.
“From our early days, we have grown into a digital leader in West Africa,” Johannisson said. “This new facility helps us shape a stronger digital future for Nigeria.”
