IHS Nigeria Boost Oxygen Supply at Sagamu Teaching Hospital

IHS Nigeria has partnered with UNICEF and the Canadian Government to support healthcare delivery in Ogun State. Together, they donated an oxygen plant to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu as part of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project aimed at saving lives.

IHS Nigeria announced that its team recently visited OOUTH to inspect the oxygen plant’s performance. The company donated the facility in 2023 to strengthen medical care in the hospital and nearby health centers.

The oxygen plant includes 50 cylinders with 6-cubic-meter capacity and 150 cylinders with 3-cubic-meter capacity. It supplies key hospital units such as the ICU, Anesthesia, Surgery, Pediatrics, Labour, and Emergency departments.

Hospital leaders confirmed that the oxygen plant has helped improve emergency treatment and save lives, especially for patients who can’t afford care. The supply also benefits other healthcare facilities around Sagamu.

Ogun State’s Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, joined the hospital visit. He praised the project for aligning with the state’s goals to build a stronger and healthier community.

IHS Nigeria’s Director of Sustainability, Titilope Oguntuga, said the hospital’s feedback motivates the company to keep supporting life-saving projects. “We are humbled by the testimonies from OOUTH’s team. It encourages us to keep building vital infrastructure for Nigerian communities,” she said.

UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office, Celine Lafoucriere, explained how strong partnerships lead to better healthcare. “This is how we build stronger health systems—by working together with clear goals and shared support,” she said.

Dr. Oluseun Adeko, Chairman of the hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee, thanked the partners for the oxygen plant. He said it had improved how the hospital handles emergencies and respiratory cases, while also supporting nearby clinics.

This partnership shows how private companies, international organizations, and governments can come together to improve healthcare and save lives in Nigeria.
