In addressing these challenges and enhance safety for vendors and customers alike.

The biometric system uses fingerprints or facial recognition to track individuals entering and leaving the market, restricting access to authorized personnel and deterring crime. Alongside this, CCTV cameras now provide round-the-clock monitoring. Enabling rapid responses to incidents. The rollout is in progress, with full implementation expected within weeks. Additional upgrades, including walkie-talkies for security teams and better street lighting, are also being added

A spokesperson from the market’s management said, “These technologies will boost safety and confidence, transforming Ikeja Computer Village into a competitive digital hub.” The initiative, supported by leaders from four ethnic groups overseeing the Ikeja computer village, draws inspiration from global markets like those in Dubai.

In line with this initiative,security expert Dr. Adekunle Ojo commented, “This combination of biometrics and CCTV is a proactive step that could influence other markets in Nigeria.”
