Lagos State is preparing to introduce Nigeria’s inaugural artificial intelligence (AI) guidelines, marking a significant step in the nation’s digital evolution. Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, Olatunbosun Alake, announced the forthcoming guidelines during the launch of Dyna.Ai’s operations in Nigeria. He clarified that these are not policies but frameworks to guide responsible AI development.
“They are not policies—they are guidelines to make sure that we are building products that we will be proud to let our children use and not try to protect them from,” Alake stated, emphasizing the importance of creating AI solutions that are safe and beneficial for future generations.
He further warned about the dangers of unregulated AI, noting that it poses significant risks and could damage reputations if misused. “Unchecked AI is not just risky, but also reputationally radioactive. The most enduring returns will come from value that aligns with the public good,” he added.
Dyna.Ai’s Strategic Entry into Nigeria
The announcement coincided with Dyna.Ai’s launch event in Lagos, themed “AI Unleashed: Revolutionizing Nigeria’s Financial Future.” The event gathered key figures from the AI, fintech, and financial sectors, including Central Bank Governor Olayemi Cardoso and Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani.
Tomas Skoumal, Chairman and Co-President of Dyna.Ai, highlighted Nigeria’s strategic importance in Africa’s digital landscape. “For us, Nigeria is the obvious starting point. There is no bigger country in Africa—this is where the momentum is,” he remarked.
Dyna.Ai introduced its suite of AI-powered products, including Agent Studio and industry-specific language models, designed to enhance automation in customer service, marketing, collections, and human resources. The company also expressed commitment to building local talent and infrastructure to support sustainable technological growth across Nigeria and the region.
Lagos’ Broader Digital Vision
Lagos State’s initiative aligns with its broader Vision 2052 agenda, focusing on innovation, smart infrastructure, and inclusive governance. The state has already launched the Lagos Digital Service Platform to enhance governance through technology.
Additionally, the state has established a Cybersecurity Operations Centre (CSOC) to monitor and respond to cyber threats in real-time, further demonstrating its commitment to securing its digital infrastructure.
