Lagos, Nigeria – LingTec AI, a Nigerian AI annotation startup, is preparing to launch LingoMarket, a new platform that connects data annotators with clients around the world. The company plans to create 1,000 data annotation and AI-related jobs by 2026, focusing on workers in Africa and Asia. The platform is expected to go live by the end of September.

What is LingoMarket?

LingoMarket will work like an online marketplace, similar to Upwork, but for data annotation and language services. In the light of this, it will allow annotators to find jobs and earn money in dollars directly from global clients. This comes as the demand for data annotation grows, driven by the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) worldwide.

Abayomi Falansa, the founder and CEO of LingTec AI, believes they company can exceed its goal of 1,000 jobs. “We already have a project with OpenAI that could involve over 500 annotators,” he said. He added that when LingoMarket launches, this project and others will be available, opening up many job opportunities.

The platform is designed to fill a need for AI training that understands local cultures, especially in Africa and Asia. Falansa said local workers are key to building AI models that fit these regions’ unique needs.

Essentially, this could mean big changes for tech jobs in Africa and Asia. With a large young population and a growing tech scene, Africa could benefit greatly from platforms like LingoMarket. It offers a way for people to join the global job market without leaving home.

LingoMarket is More Than A Job Site

Moreover, Falansa sees LingoMarket as more than just a job site. “We’re creating opportunities for wealth creation and changing destinies,” he said. He gave an example: “A developer in Lagos could earn $2,000 a month from their bedroom, supporting their family and community.”

As AI becomes more important to the world economy, LingoMarket could help Africa and Asia play a bigger role. Ultimately, Instead of just using AI, these regions could help shape it by providing skilled workers for the industry.
