Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) has announced a temporary adjustment to its branch operations ahead of its half-year audit, slated for Monday, June 30, 2025. In a notice sent directly to customers over the weekend, the bank confirmed that all branches across Nigeria will shut their doors earlier than usual on that date.

According to the bank, the early closure will support audit activities and allow internal teams the space to conduct a thorough mid-year review. “Please be informed that our branches nationwide will close to customers early on Monday, June 30, 2025, for our half-year audit,” the statement read.

The bank also outlined different closing hours depending on location. While Lagos branches will close by 3:00 p.m., those outside Lagos—referred to as upcountry branches—will close earlier at 2:00 p.m.

GTBank: Digital Banking Channels Remain Available

GTBank encouraged customers to continue using its digital platforms to manage their transactions during the temporary shift. Mobile banking, internet banking, and ATM services will remain active throughout the day and night.

The bank confirmed that standard branch operations will resume the following day, Tuesday, July 1, restoring regular business hours. It also took the opportunity to thank customers for their understanding and support.

We appreciate your continued patronage and understanding during this time,” the statement added, assuring clients that efforts have been made to minimise disruption to services.

The decision to close early isn’t new in the banking industry. Audits—especially those conducted mid-year—help financial institutions align their records and stay compliant with regulatory standards. However, this move by GTBank comes at a time when customers rely heavily on in-person and digital banking services, especially at month-end.
