Bybit, a global cryptocurrency exchange with over 60 million users, has joined forces with AltSchool Africa to launch a $100,000 scholarship fund aimed at equipping young Africans with essential tech skills. The partnership, announced on March 18, 2025, at Bybit’s Dubai headquarters, introduces the Bybit Academy, which collaborates with AltSchool’s highly regarded Diploma program to prepare African youth for a rapidly evolving digital economy.

AltSchool Africa, established in 2021, has built a solid reputation for offering practical training in software engineering, data analytics, and product management. Bybit’s investment taps into this ecosystem, sponsoring 1,000 scholarships that cover not only tuition but also mentorship, career counselling, and hands-on projects. This initiative aims to empower young Africans to seize global opportunities by providing them with cutting-edge skills that meet the demands of the digital world.

According to Helen Liu, COO of Bybit, “Through Bybit Academy and our partnership with AltSchool, we’re fostering growth and resilience with tech skills that change lives.” The partnership highlights a shared vision of bridging the digital skills gap across Africa, a pressing issue as an estimated 230 million jobs in Sub-Saharan Africa will require digital expertise by 2030, according to the International Finance Corporation.

Strategic Impact of Bybit’s Scholarship

The launch of this scholarship is more than just corporate philanthropy—it’s a strategic move by Bybit to nurture talent within Africa’s growing crypto landscape. With Nigeria ranked second globally in crypto adoption, Bybit is positioning itself as a leader in empowering future tech professionals. The scholarship program also seeks to address cybersecurity challenges following a $1.5 billion hack Bybit experienced in 2024, which emphasises the need for skilled professionals in the industry.

Unlike previous partnerships, such as AltSchool’s Binance collaboration which excluded Nigerians, the Bybit-AltSchool scholarship is open to all Africans, promoting inclusivity and widespread access to learning opportunities. By leveraging AltSchool’s proven framework, Bybit is investing in the region’s technological advancement by developing skilled, versatile tech professionals.

The scholarship application is now open at AltSchool Africa, with successful candidates set to receive training that could transform their futures. As Bybit and AltSchool Africa continue their collaboration, they are not only bridging the digital divide but also creating a pipeline of talent ready to thrive in a tech-driven world.
