Verto, a leading fintech company specialising in cross-border payments, has introduced the Verto Global Business Award to support startups looking to expand internationally. The initiative, with a total prize pool of $15,000, aims to remove financial barriers and provide crucial funding for young businesses in Africa.
Applications open on 6 February 2025, targeting startups in Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa that have been in operation for no more than two years. The competition is open to businesses across all industries, with winners selected based on market impact, innovation, and growth potential.
Who Stands to Benefit?
The winning startup will receive $10,000, while the runner-up and second runner-up will be awarded $3,000 and $2,000, respectively. Winners will be announced on 10 October 2025.
“For startups, access to global markets isn’t just an advantage—it’s a game changer. At Verto, we’ve spent years breaking down financial barriers, and this award takes it a step further by equipping entrepreneurs with the resources and recognition they need to scale globally,” said Ola Oyetayo, CEO and Co-Founder of Verto.
Verto, founded in 2017, facilitates secure cross-border transactions in over 200 countries, supporting businesses with currency conversions in more than 50 currencies. The award aligns with the growing importance of global trade, with intra-African trade alone projected to increase income by $450 billion by 2035, according to the World Trade Organization. Interested startups can apply online from 6 February 2025.
