Nigeria has signed a landmark deal with Autodesk, a global leader in design and engineering technology, to boost its digital design and innovation ecosystem. The agreement, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, marks Autodesk’s official entry into Nigeria’s growing community of designers, engineers, and builders.

Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, said the partnership will modernise infrastructure delivery while equipping professionals with critical skills. “This collaboration will promote global best practices and build skills across government and industry,” he noted.

Focus on AI and Digital Infrastructure

The deal will advance Building Information Modelling (BIM), digital design, and artificial intelligence in Nigeria’s infrastructure projects. Autodesk will also work with the government to test cloud-driven and data-driven solutions that make public systems smarter.

The partnership forms part of Nigeria’s National AI Strategy, which aims to prepare professionals for the future of work. Training and capacity building will be at the heart of the initiative, ensuring designers and engineers can compete globally while solving local challenges.

Dr. Tijani credited Dara Treseder, Autodesk’s Chief Marketing Officer, for enabling the collaboration. He stressed that the MoU would help Nigerian professionals and institutions play a stronger role in shaping both local and international innovation.

Nigeria’s infrastructure sector has often lagged in adopting new technologies. By tapping Autodesk’s expertise, the country hopes to speed up project execution while reducing costs and errors. This move could also give Nigerian startups and professionals better access to tools that are standard in global markets.

I am passionate about crafting stories, vibing to good music (and making some too), debating Nigeria’s political future like it’s the World Cup, and finding the perfect quiet spot to work and unwind.
