Dangote Group Limited and its founder, Aliko Dangote, won top honours at the 15th annual Brand Africa 100 Awards held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Over the weekend, the company was named the Most Admired African Brand and received three major awards. This recognition came after a consumer-led survey conducted across more than 30 African countries.

According to a statement from the group’s communications unit, Dangote Industries also made history by becoming the first African company inducted into the Brand Africa Hall of Fame. The organisers said this honour recognises the company’s impact on African consumers and its role in shaping a positive image of the continent.

Aliko Dangote received a Lifetime Achievement Award for leading industrial growth in Africa. The award celebrates his efforts in building a strong local brand and transforming the continent’s economy through a trusted, African-owned business.

Other brands inducted into the Hall of Fame included MTN, M-Pesa, Ethiopian Airlines, and the country of South Africa. These brands have remained among Africa’s most admired for at least five to fifteen years and are known for their consistent performance and global respect.

Dangote Group Praises Team and Supporters

Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding & Communications Officer at Dangote Industries, said the awards prove the company’s strong commitment to quality, innovation, and progress. He praised the dedication of the team, partners, and supporters who believe in the company’s mission to drive development and growth across Africa.

Chiejina also expressed gratitude for the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Aliko Dangote. He said it honours Dangote’s visionary leadership and lifelong work in building industries, creating jobs, and promoting African businesses on the global stage. He added that this recognition will encourage the company to keep making a difference, improve lives, and expand its impact across and beyond the continent.

During the awards event, Mr. Claver Gatete, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa, praised Aliko Dangote and other Hall of Fame members. He said their efforts support Africa’s goals for industrialisation, private sector development, and regional integration. He also encouraged more investment in African youth, innovation, and creative industries, suggesting the creation of a Pan-African Creative Innovation Fund to support and grow local brands.

Brand Africa founder, Thebe Ikalafeng, expressed concern over the decline in African brands among the top 100. The 2025 report showed that although 68% of Africans believe in the continent, only 11% of the top 100 admired brands are African, the lowest figure recorded. Ikalafeng said this is a warning for Africa. He urged Africans not only to believe in local products but to support and buy Made-in-Africa brands. He emphasised the need for African companies to invest in research, improve quality, and stand out by being authentic.
