The just-concluded GITEX Nigeria 2025 placed Lagos at the centre of Africa’s digital conversation, with TD Africa and IBM drawing some of the strongest attention at the tech exhibition.

The four-day event, held at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre from 1–4 September, hosted global players in artificial intelligence, fintech, cybersecurity, and the Internet of Things. For TD Africa, the platform was an opportunity to highlight its role in driving innovation and equipping African businesses with world-class solutions.

Sanwo-Olu’s Visit Draws Spotlight

One of the high points was the visit of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to the TD Africa–IBM stand. He was welcomed by Mrs Chioma Ekeh, Chief Executive Officer of TD Africa, who outlined the company’s vision for Africa’s digital future.

The Governor commended the company’s resilience and its longstanding role in shaping the continent’s technology ecosystem. “TD Africa’s innovation, tenacity, and longevity have made it a force in Africa’s technology journey,” he remarked.

In response, Mrs Ekeh underscored the importance of Nigeria hosting GITEX for the first time. “It’s not a coincidence for GITEX to have taken place in Nigeria, as the world is becoming aware that this is where the energy of Africa collides with the ambition of the future. As long as TD Africa stands strong behind global brands like IBM, we can only go further, stronger, and better,” she said.

Collaboration for Africa’s Digital Future

The booth also received a visit from Dr Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy. He stressed the role of collaboration in building a competitive digital economy for Africa.

Adding his voice, Mr Vishnu Taimni, General Manager of IBM operated by MIBB, highlighted the value of partnerships. “Africa’s digital journey cannot be achieved in isolation. Our collaboration with TD Africa at GITEX is proof that when global expertise meets local strength, we unlock the future of technology for businesses, governments, and communities across the continent,” he said.

Tech pioneer Dr Leo Stan Ekeh, Chairman of Zinox Group, also paid tribute to the efforts of TD Africa and IBM, praising their consistency in pushing growth and innovation across Africa.

For TD Africa, participation in GITEX Nigeria 2025 alongside IBM was not just about presence but about influence. The company reaffirmed its commitment to deepening access to digital solutions while standing firm with global partners and local stakeholders.

I am passionate about crafting stories, vibing to good music (and making some too), debating Nigeria’s political future like it’s the World Cup, and finding the perfect quiet spot to work and unwind.
