Telecom operator T2, formerly known as 9mobile, has sealed a multi-million-dollar partnership with India’s Knot Solutions to upgrade its business and operations support systems. The agreement was signed at the GITEX Nigeria Tech Expo and Future Economy Conference in Lagos, with executives from both firms calling it a major step toward transforming customer experience in Nigeria.
T2’s Chief Executive Officer, Obafemi Banigbe, described the partnership as part of the company’s four-stage strategy of stabilisation, modernisation, transformation, and growth. He stressed that the goal was not only to restore competitiveness but also to place T2 back at the centre of Nigeria’s telecom industry. “This structured approach underscores our commitment to restoring competitiveness, driving customer-focused innovation, and enabling Nigeria’s digital future,” he said.
More than a system upgrade
Banigbe emphasised that T2 was going beyond a technical upgrade to reimagine how people connect. “This is not just a system upgrade. It is a customer-first revolution that transforms how people interact with their digital world—seamlessly, instantly, and on their terms,” he stated.
He explained that the company was evolving from a traditional mobile network into a broader platform offering data, voice, cloud solutions, entertainment, lifestyle products, and even digital financial services. According to him, this shift will allow T2 to create an ecosystem where connectivity powers opportunities in commerce, learning, and financial inclusion.
The company’s chairman, Thomas Etuh, was also credited with driving investor confidence, which Banigbe said was crucial to the current transformation.
Knot Solutions’ role
Knot Solutions’ Chief Executive Officer, Sumanth Konuru, said the collaboration was about unlocking a smarter telecom experience for Nigerian customers. He pointed to the firm’s flagship platform, RaptrDXP™, as a tool that would help T2 move away from rigid models to flexible, cloud-native systems.
“Through our flagship cloud-native platform, RaptrDXP™, T2 can move beyond rigid models into a dynamic, hyper-personalised ecosystem. We are proud to join this journey,” Konuru said.
He added that modernising BSS and OSS infrastructure is now central to Africa’s telecom growth. With the deal in place, T2 customers should expect real-time billing, flexible bundles, and tailored services that promise to make their digital experience more intuitive.
