SeamlessHR, a Nigerian HR-tech startup, is making a strategic shift towards the public sector, positioning itself to tap into a market valued at over $720 million. With a workforce of approximately 720,000 civil servants, Nigeria’s government represents a lucrative opportunity for the company, offering long-term contracts and a steady revenue stream.

SeamlessHR is an all-in-one HR software for workforce management, recruitment, payroll, performance, time management, and employee benefits. It efficiently automates manual tasks, eliminates errors, and securely manages employee information. Its functions include accessing comprehensive HR reports that provide company and workforce insights for data-driven decisions and predictive forecasting; and offers cloud storage to store and access HR data anytime, anywhere.

Having built a strong presence in the private sector by catering to mid-to-large enterprises, SeamlessHR is now in discussions with multiple government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). Among these is the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), which could be onboarded onto its platform.

SeamlessHR’s expansion aims to address persistent issues in Nigeria’s public sector, such as ghost workers, lack of transparency, and inefficiencies in resource allocation. The company believes its digital HR solutions can help streamline personnel management and improve fairness in workforce distribution

The move comes amid rising competition in Nigeria’s HR-tech space. Emerging startups like PaidHR, Bento, Ropay, WorkPay, Cloudenly, and NotchHR are intensifying the battle for market dominance.

As SeamlessHR pushes forward, its ability to navigate bureaucratic challenges, secure government contracts, and facilitate a smooth transition away from legacy systems will determine the success of its ambitious public sector expansion.
