OpenAI has rolled out a new feature called ChatGPT Health. The tool aims to make health and wellness information more personal for users.
The update introduces a dedicated health space within ChatGPT. Users can link medical records and wellness apps to receive responses based on their own data. Supported platforms include Apple Health, Function and MyFitnessPal.
OpenAI said ChatGPT Health can help explain recent lab results. It can also suggest questions for doctor visits. In addition, it offers guidance on diet, exercise and health insurance options. These insights are shaped by each user’s health patterns.
Health questions already make up a major part of ChatGPT usage. According to the company, more than 230 million users worldwide ask health-related questions every week. This makes health one of the platform’s most common use cases.
Built With Doctors, Not to Replace Them
OpenAI said the app was developed with input from physicians. The company stressed that the feature is designed to support users, not replace medical professionals.
ChatGPT Health is not intended for diagnosis or treatment. Instead, it helps users understand everyday health issues. It also allows people to track trends in their wellness over time.
Privacy was a key focus during development. All health conversations take place in a separate, secure area within ChatGPT. OpenAI said health chats and data are not used to train its main AI models.
Users are encouraged to use the dedicated Health tab for medical and wellness questions. The company said this adds an extra layer of protection for sensitive information.
The app is currently available to a small group of early users. People on ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans can apply for access. However, the feature is not yet available in the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the UK.
OpenAI plans to expand access on the web and iOS in the coming weeks. Some integrations remain limited. Medical records access is currently available only in the United States. Linking Apple Health also requires an iOS device.
The launch shows how AI tools are moving deeper into everyday health support. For many users, ChatGPT Health could become a starting point for understanding personal wellness.
