MTN Nigeria has emerged as the country’s fastest mobile internet provider, while ipNX remains the top performer in fixed broadband, according to Ookla’s latest H2 2024 connectivity report. The findings, based on Speedtest intelligence data, evaluate network speed, web browsing performance, and video streaming quality across various service providers.
MTN Delivers Unmatched Mobile Speeds
The report highlights MTN’s dominance in mobile connectivity, with its 5G network delivering a median download speed of 231.39 Mbps and an upload speed of 17.35 Mbps.

These impressive figures make it the preferred network for gamers and video streamers. Airtel secured second place for mobile internet speeds, while Globacom trailed behind, rounding out the top three.
ipNX Tops Fixed Broadband Performance
For fixed broadband services, ipNX maintained its lead, boasting a median download speed of 37.78 Mbps and an upload speed of 38.50 Mbps.

This marks another period of strong performance for the provider, cementing its reputation as Nigeria’s top broadband service in the second half of 2024.
Regional Speed Insights
Lagos recorded the highest median mobile download speed in Nigeria at 40.26 Mbps, followed by Benin City (23.54 Mbps) and Ibadan (23.03 Mbps).

In the fixed broadband category, Port Harcourt led with 24.04 Mbps, while Lagos (23.44 Mbps) and Kano (23.4 Mbps) followed closely.
