Zone Builds Safe Blockchain for Banks and Crypto in Africa

Zone, a Nigerian blockchain company, has built a network where banks and crypto businesses can work safely under government rules. Banks now send money directly through Zone’s blockchain, making payments faster and solving problems quicker. CEO Obi Emetarom says this system mixes the speed of crypto with the safety of regular banks.

Only approved companies can create apps or tokens on Zone’s network, and all actions are closely watched. By using stablecoins tied to real money like the naira, Zone hopes to make finance safer and easier for everyone. Even though politics could slow things down, Zone’s tech could still change how money moves in Africa and beyond.

Revwit Launches AI Tool to Help African Businesses Sell Better

Three African tech founders — Chinedu Ossai, Damilola Aluede, and Dayo Adekanmbi — created Revwit, an AI sales tool that makes it easier for African businesses to manage B2B sales. Rewvit captures leads, tracks deals, supports local currencies like the naira, and already powers over $800 million in deals for 200+ companies.

The tool connects to emails and calendars in minutes and protects user data. The team plans to add new features like automation and flexible payments. CEO Chinedu Ossai said Revwit acts like a real sales assistant, handling the hard work so teams can focus on closing deals.

OPay Brings Scholarship to Kwara State Polytechnic

OPay has expanded its ₦1.2 billion scholarship program to Kwara State Polytechnic, giving 20 students ₦300,000 each. The program, which started in 2023, plans to support 400 students every year for 10 years. OPay’s CEO, Dauda Gotring, said the goal is to help students focus on their studies and become future leaders. The Rector of the polytechnic, Abdul Mohammed, thanked OPay for helping students grow both academically and personally.

As one of Nigeria’s biggest fintech companies, OPay is using its scholarship to build a stronger, smarter workforce. By supporting students in polytechnics, not just universities, OPay wants to close the skills gap and help more young Nigerians find good jobs. More schools across Nigeria are expected to benefit soon.

Afreximbank Opens 2025 Internship Applications with $1,000 Monthly Stipend

Afreximbank has launched its 2025 internship program, offering students and recent graduates $1,000 a month and a $500 housing allowance for those relocating. The six-month internship includes professional mentorship, job rotations, and placements in Cairo or other African offices. Applicants must be aged 20–32, studying full-time in fields like economics, finance, law, or engineering, and fluent in English or French.

Students from Afreximbank member countries, Africans in the diaspora, and non-Africans passionate about Africa’s growth can apply. The deadline is April 30, 2025. Applications must include a CV, passport, academic records, a recommendation letter, and a one-page Statement of Intent. Selected interns must confirm participation within two weeks.

Africa’s Crypto Boom Brings Growth and New Risks

Africa’s crypto market is growing fast, with Sub-Saharan Africa recording $125 billion in digital asset flows in 2024, according to Chainalysis. Nigeria leads with 106 million crypto holders. However, scams like CBEX, a fake platform that collapsed in Nigeria and Kenya, show the dangers. Victims, including singer Taye Currency, who lost ₦10 million, reveal how poor financial knowledge leaves many investors exposed.

As stablecoins help people fight inflation and manage payments, regulators are stepping in. Nigeria’s SEC now controls crypto assets after President Bola Tinubu signed the Investments and Securities Bill 2025. But global crypto markets remain unstable, losing $633.5 billion in early 2025 alone. For new African investors, the fast growth comes with real risks.
