The Professor Isa Pantami Foundation (PIP Foundation) has launched its third round of training, with plans to equip more than 10,000 young Nigerians with new skills.
The programme combines artificial intelligence (AI) training with hands-on phone repair lessons, aiming to help participants adapt to Nigeria’s shifting economy. According to the foundation, this mix will give young people the chance to tap into both high-tech opportunities and everyday vocational work.
Preparing Youth for the Digital Future
The foundation noted that global changes in technology are opening up jobs that Nigerian youth must be ready to seize. Citing the World Economic Forum, it said emerging technologies, including AI, are expected to create over 170 million jobs worldwide.
The initiative is not just about technical training. It is also described as a strategic effort to tackle unemployment and to empower participants to start businesses that may employ others. The foundation explained that the goal is to build “a future where communities are strengthened through education, innovation, and technology.”
Pantami Foundation: From Gombe to the Rest of Nigeria
The current application round is open to residents of Gombe State, with the portal closing on August 31, 2025. Training for other states is expected to follow, giving access to young people nationwide.
Since its creation, the PIP Foundation has offered scholarships, exam support, and grassroots projects. With this programme, it is expanding into skill development for the digital economy while also supporting the more traditional trade of phone repair, which is critical in many Nigerian communities.
