The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has introduced a new direct payment option on its registration portal to improve service delivery and ease transactions for businesses in Nigeria. Users can now make payments directly on ReVOps on the Intelligent Company Registration Portal (iCRP), rather than the previous process that relied heavily on the Remita payment gateway.
The move is another step in Nigeria’s increasing drive for digital transformation, especially within public institutions. Previously, under the Remita structure, users had been making payments via debit cards, bank transfers or physical bank branch payments. But the new arrangement is expected to make it easier and faster for customers to make transactions on the CAC payment portal.
CAC expands digital services
The Commission said in a statement Wednesday that the update is part of broader reforms to enhance the user experience on the platform.
“The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) wishes to inform its valued customers that payments for the following filings can now be conveniently made directly on our portal via ReVOps on the Intelligent Company Registration Portal (iCRP),” CAC stated.
The Commission noted that the new remuneration system is now in place for several services on the portal. These include Annual Returns, Change of Business Address, Cessation of Business, Change of Company Name and Adjustment of Company Objects. The portal for payment at the CAC will also facilitate payments for certified true copies, status report, letters of good standing and changes in respect of proprietors or partners.
Industry observers say the move could cut down the delays that users often face during the company registration and filing processes. It may also build confidence in the platform as more businesses continue to use digital services.
The government is intensifying revenue reforms.
The new CAC payment portal also fits into the Federal Government’s wider plan to digitise public finance systems and improve transparency across agencies. Authorities are turning more and more to technology-based systems to reinforce accountability and stop revenue leakages.
This is at the heart of the Revenue Optimisation and Assurance Project (REV-OP) which was launched last year. The initiative aims to enhance efficiency, transparency and digital transformation in government operations. “The system gives us real-time monitoring and improved decision making using technology,” officials said.
