The Federal Ministry of Youth Development will host a special digital showcase for 300 Nigerian startups from September 1 to 4, 2025. This event will help young tech innovators gain global exposure and connect with international partners before the GITEX Global 2025 event in Dubai.

The goal is to promote Nigeria’s top youth-driven startups and give them a platform to shine worldwide. This move is part of a bigger plan to strengthen Nigeria’s role in the global tech space.

Minister Olawande Meets With UAE Officials

Hon. Ayodele Olawande, the Minister of State for Youth Development, is currently in the United Arab Emirates. He is meeting with key leaders, including Dr. Sultan AlNeyadi, the UAE’s Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and representatives of Dubai Cares, to build new partnerships that will empower Nigerian youth.

During his visit, Olawande discussed ideas for joint programs that focus on innovation and youth development. These programs aim to give young Nigerians more opportunities to grow and succeed globally.

New Initiative: GITEX 2025 Youth Local Showcase Series

The Ministry plans to launch the “GITEX Youth Local Showcase Series – Powered by NiYA”. This program will highlight grassroots innovations from different parts of Nigeria. The goal is to connect local tech talents to big international events like GITEX Africa and GITEX Global in Dubai.

This showcase will help startups:

  • Attract international funding
  • Form global partnerships
  • Access business support to grow faster

More details about how startups will be selected and how global groups can get involved will be shared soon.

Program Backed by NiYA and Tinubu’s Agenda

This showcase is part of the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA), a key part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. NiYA already has over 210,000 youth enrolled and is building training centers in all 774 local government areas across the country.

Minister Olawande is leading this project to help young Nigerians turn their tech ideas into real businesses that can grow and compete worldwide.

This announcement came after a strategy meeting between Hon. Olawande and Dr. Inuwa Kashifu Abdullahi, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). Both leaders agreed to improve Nigeria’s innovation system and help young tech founders connect with the global market.

This new effort will put Nigeria’s young tech talent in the spotlight and show the world what the country’s youth can achieve. With strong support from the government and international partners, Nigerian startups are preparing to take bold steps onto the world stage.
