GITEX Africa Morocco has officially kicked off in Marrakech, transforming the historic city into a magnet for the world’s leading technology players. Backed by the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 2025 edition is drawing global attention as Africa’s largest tech and startup event unfolds across the city.
Held under the authority of Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, the three-day gathering is organised by KAOUN International — the overseas events arm of Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). The event also benefits from the strategic collaboration of the Digital Development Agency (ADD), underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to becoming a regional tech powerhouse.
This year’s show welcomes over 1,450 exhibitors, 350 international investors, and 650 speakers from more than 130 countries. Her Excellency Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, opened the ceremony alongside dignitaries such as H.E. Dr Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE, and Mr Chakib Alj, President of Morocco’s General Confederation of Enterprises (CGEM).
“GITEX AFRICA affirms the growing importance of the digital economy, which represents today 15% of global GDP, or some $6.5 trillion,” said El Fallah Seghrouchni during her keynote address. “The Kingdom of Morocco is actively committed to building a future where digitalisation, and through it AI, constitutes a lever for progress, for the benefit of all.
New Industries, New Partners, Bigger Vision
GITEX Africa Morocco’s third edition expands far beyond its original scope. In addition to returning sectors like AI, cybersecurity, and telecoms, this year’s agenda explores emerging innovations in energy transition, sports tech, agritech, mobility, and edutech. This broader focus reflects the continent’s growing demand for versatile digital solutions and intersectoral collaboration.
Countries such as Belgium, Switzerland, Uzbekistan, Gabon, Niger and Zambia are making their debut at the event, adding to its diverse and international profile. With fresh partnerships and high-level dialogues on offer, the show is expected to generate a lasting economic and technological impact across Africa.
This year’s edition also enjoys strong institutional support from agencies and companies such as ANRT, Royal Air Maroc, ONCF, OCP, ONDA, AMDIE, ONMT, and CGEM. Their involvement highlights the alignment between Morocco’s public and private sectors in fostering digital transformation.
GITEX Africa runs until 16 April in Marrakech. More updates and highlights can be found on GITEX Africa’s official website. For insights into how AI is reshaping Africa’s startup ecosystem, read our feature on AI in African innovation. You can also catch up on last year’s event coverage here.
