The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has kicked off a nationwide roadshow to find Nigeria’s most promising startups ahead of GITEX Africa 2025. The search spans the country’s six geopolitical zones and aims to spotlight high-impact innovations that can compete on the continent’s biggest tech stage.

GITEX Africa, held annually in Morocco, is widely regarded as the largest tech and startup event in Africa. It draws investors, technology giants, government policymakers, and startups from across the globe. With Nigeria’s growing reputation as a tech powerhouse, NITDA’s initiative hopes to showcase the country’s standout startups to the world.

The roadshow is more than a talent search — it’s a platform to scale innovation. Selected startups will receive full sponsorship to exhibit at GITEX, courtesy of Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), with access to global visibility, partnerships, and funding.

Eligibility and What’s at Stake

Only startups registered with Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Nigeria Startup Portal will be considered. To qualify, they must have either a market-ready product or a minimum viable product (MVP) already in use. More than just readiness, startups are expected to show real potential for growth, innovation, and a solid business model.

Sectors of focus include Fintech, EdTech, HealthTech, AgriTech, AI, Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), Cybersecurity, and Sustainability. These align with both local needs and global investment trends. Startups that stand out will not only earn a place at the exhibition but will also benefit from international media exposure, investor meetings, and market entry opportunities.

“This is about finding Nigerian solutions for global problems,” said a NITDA spokesperson in an earlier statement. “We want to empower startups that can shape the future of technology and innovation in Africa.”

The application process is simple but thorough. Interested startups must complete a form detailing their innovation, business traction, and target market. According to Nairametrics, the selected innovators will not only represent Nigeria — they’ll lead the conversation on where Africa’s digital future is headed.
