Telecoms company Globacom has restated its commitment to Nigeria’s digital growth by backing the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Business Roundtable on Broadband Investment and Critical Infrastructure Protection.

The two-day meeting, which began on Wednesday at the NCC Headquarters in Abuja, carried the theme “Right of Way and Protection of Broadband Infrastructure – The Road to Success in Broadband Investment and Connectivity.”

The roundtable brought together government officials, telecom operators, investors, and regulators to discuss practical ways to improve broadband connectivity across Nigeria.

Glo: Bridging Gaps in Connectivity

Experts at the session described the event as a major opportunity for both public and private sectors to align strategies, close digital gaps, and build secure infrastructure — particularly in rural and underserved regions.

Globacom, which served as both a sponsor and an active participant, said its involvement reflects its long-term vision of creating a connected and inclusive digital ecosystem.

We believe that digital transformation must be inclusive and secure,” the company said in a statement. “Our participation in this roundtable is a continuation of our mission to support national development through technology. A resilient broadband infrastructure is critical to Nigeria’s economic growth and global competitiveness.”

Driving Policy and Infrastructure Growth

According to Globacom, its participation also offers a strategic platform to influence discussions around Right of Way (RoW) issues, infrastructure investment incentives, and regulatory frameworks for broadband expansion.

The telecom giant disclosed that its goal is to help accelerate the deployment of high-speed internet while safeguarding Nigeria’s communication assets from threats.

Beyond policy engagement, Glo’s support extends to logistical and technical contributions to ensure the success of the Abuja forum. The initiative, it noted, reinforces its dedication to advancing secure broadband infrastructure and equitable access to digital resources.

Globacom’s ongoing input to Nigeria’s Critical National Information Infrastructure Protection Plan (CNIIPP) is part of efforts to strengthen telecom security. The plan aims to protect vital communication channels against cyberattacks and sabotage while improving coordination among stakeholders.

I am passionate about crafting stories, vibing to good music (and making some too), debating Nigeria’s political future like it’s the World Cup, and finding the perfect quiet spot to work and unwind.
