A new partnership between PayPal and TerraPay is set to change how people move money across the Middle East and Africa (MEA). The global payments giant announced its alliance with TerraPay to enable faster and more seamless international transfers in the region. The goal is to improve real-time fund movement by bridging the gap between banks, mobile wallets, and financial institutions.

Digital transactions across the MEA region are rapidly rising. According to Mordor Intelligence, the market is projected to hit $251.34 billion by 2025 and grow to $422.56 billion by 2030. This shows a clear demand for faster, more secure, and efficient financial tools. Through this partnership, TerraPay will integrate with PayPal, allowing users in MEA to transfer funds directly to their PayPal accounts from bank and mobile wallets with greater ease.

“The Middle East and Africa are at the forefront of the digital transformation, yet financial barriers still limit growth for many. At PayPal, we’re committed to changing that,” said Otto Williams, Senior Vice President and General Manager for MEA at PayPal. “By partnering with TerraPay, we’re helping unlock economic opportunity and build a more connected, inclusive financial future.”

Improving Access and Inclusion Through Financial Innovation

This collaboration is more than just a technical upgrade—it’s about opening access to global commerce. By linking PayPal accounts with TerraPay’s secure network, users across MEA can now enjoy easier and faster international transactions. It’s a step toward boosting financial inclusion in a region still dealing with banking limitations.

Ani Sane, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer at TerraPay, described the partnership as a pivotal step. “Our mission at TerraPay is to create a world where digital transactions are effortless, secure, and accessible to all. This partnership with PayPal marks a major milestone in expanding financial access across the Middle East and Africa,” he said. Sane also noted that TerraPay’s infrastructure connects various financial systems—from banks to wallets—making transactions smoother for businesses and individuals.

As the global economy becomes more connected, the need for flexible and efficient payment methods is only increasing. With this alliance, PayPal and TerraPay aim to meet that need head-on, offering users in MEA a better way to move money across borders and tap into global opportunities.
