Small businesses in Nigeria are set to receive a boost as the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) gears up to host its annual MSMEs Fair. Scheduled for May 6, 2025, at NECA House in Lagos, the event aims to equip micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises with the tools needed to navigate Nigeria’s evolving economic terrain.
Themed “Galvanising MSMEs for Economic Growth and Stability,” this year’s edition focuses on enhancing business resilience, streamlining regulatory processes, and promoting financial inclusion. NECA’s Director-General, Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, described MSMEs as the “lifeblood of Nigeria’s economy,” underscoring their role in job creation and national development. He noted that the fair will address common challenges like unstable policy environments and business scalability issues.
Policy Clarity Meets Business Support
One of the most anticipated features of the 2025 fair is its lineup of regulatory dialogue sessions. These will offer entrepreneurs direct access to agencies involved in licensing, tax compliance, and business registration. According to organisers, this initiative is designed to “demystify bureaucratic bottlenecks” and help entrepreneurs better understand Nigeria’s regulatory framework.
The event will also feature a keynote speech by Adenike Adeyemi, CEO of FATE Foundation. Adeyemi is expected to share game-changing strategies for MSME growth, particularly in areas like innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation. Her presence highlights the fair’s commitment to empowering business owners with knowledge from industry leaders.
In addition to networking, attendees will have the opportunity to exhibit products and services to potential investors and partners. NECA says participants will learn practical steps to access funding, implement digital tools, and scale their operations. The fair will also explore how MSMEs can tap into emerging markets despite tough economic conditions.
