The Dorcas Cancer Foundation (TDCF) has used the Giv.ng digital fundraising platform to raise funds for the surgery of eight-year-old Matthew Omotosho, a child diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Dorcas Cancer Foundation explained how it turned to technology to speed up access to vital resources for Matthew’s treatment. Instead of using slower, traditional donation methods, TDCF partnered with Giv.ng to reach more people and raise money quickly and transparently.
Dr. Adedayo Joseph, an oncologist and Lead Advocate at the Foundation, called the Giv.ng collaboration a turning point. She said the platform helped the team tell Matthew’s story powerfully and respectfully. “Working with Giv.ng was a game changer,” she said. “It wasn’t just about collecting money; it was about giving people hope through a meaningful story.”
Mr. Korede Akindele, a cancer advocate at TDCF, also praised the partnership. He explained that using Giv.ng helped the Foundation connect with more Nigerians both at home and abroad, leading to faster donations and a bigger impact. “We’re committed to saving children with cancer. Giv.ng helped us raise urgent funds and share stories that inspire people to act,” he said.
Thanks to the success of the fundraiser, Matthew underwent surgery and is now recovering well. His story highlights how digital tools like Giv.ng can change lives when trust and transparency are present.
