Paystack has expanded its checkout options with the addition of Zap. The move allows millions of users to complete online payments faster across Paystack-powered platforms.

The payment company confirmed that Zap now appears automatically for merchants who already support bank transfers. As a result, no extra setup is required on the merchant’s side.

For customers, the change introduces a familiar flow. Payments can now be completed using the Zap app when shopping online for food, transport, fashion, and services.

On desktop devices, users see a QR code. They scan it with the Zap app to approve payment. On mobile, the checkout redirects directly to Zap for instant confirmation.

New users are prompted to download the app before completing a transaction. Payments can be made using a Zap balance or Apple Pay.

Faster checkout, fewer abandoned payments

The integration is designed to reduce failed and abandoned checkouts. Paystack said Zap’s speed and familiarity help users complete payments in seconds.

Merchants benefit from quicker confirmations and smoother customer experiences. The payment process also runs on Paystack’s existing secure infrastructure, which supports large transaction volumes across Africa.

Although Paystack did not release specific figures, the company has previously said faster checkout flows improve conversion rates for businesses.

Zap has also introduced product updates alongside the Paystack integration. These changes aim to improve reliability and daily use.

New features include one-tap repeat transfers and automatic bank suggestions. Users can now toggle balance visibility and receive real-time service updates.

The app has also introduced a Tier 3 account. This allows higher daily transaction limits and larger balances.

With this update, Paystack and Zap appear focused on convenience rather than reinvention. The goal is to meet users where they already feel comfortable.
