Glo has apologised to millions of subscribers after a nationwide disruption to its data service on Tuesday morning. The interruption began around 8:30 a.m. and affected users in several parts of Nigeria, leaving many unable to connect for hours. The company confirmed the situation in a public statement shared shortly after the outage started.

Glo explained that the disruption was unexpected and spread across multiple locations at once. Although it did not disclose the cause, the provider reassured users that its engineers were working round the clock to restore normal service. The company noted in its statement that “a data service outage occurred nationwide, affecting data connectivity across multiple locations.”

Glo Data Outage: What the Company Is Telling Users

The Glo data outage triggered widespread complaints online, and the company responded by using its social media platforms to keep subscribers informed. In its message to customers, Glo said its technical team was pushing for a swift fix. It added that work was already underway and promised that updates would continue until full restoration.

The provider also acknowledged the disruption’s impact, saying it understood how essential stable internet access had become for daily life. Glo said in its message that “our technical team is working to resolve the issue and ensure services are being restored as quickly as possible.” The statement ended with a note of appreciation, adding that “we truly appreciate you.”

Restoration After A Few Hours of Frustration

Glo announced a full restoration after about 4 hours and 8 minutes. As usual, they announced through their social media handle around 12:38 pm that the technical team has completed a recovery. They said, “The outage, which started at 08:30 a.m. on 09/12/2025, has now been resolved. We understand important reliable data access is to you and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience…our technical team has completed the recovery work, and services have been fully restored across all affected areas.”

This information still didn’t sit well with other users, who vented their frustrations; many lamented how it affected their businesses, losing customers in the process.

The downtime for those who rely on one internet service means a total halt if there’s no other option, especially for businesses. Will Glo respond to these issues more swiftly if this ever happens again?
