Nigeria’s Satellite Ambition Soars Amid Rising Security Threats

The Federal Government has greenlit the launch of four new satellites to bolster national security, including one Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite and three Earth Observation units. Minister of Innovation, Uche Nnaji, announced the project during the National Council on Innovation, citing its relevance to Nigeria’s security efforts, especially in areas like Sambisa Forest. This comes as the military warns about the increasing use of armed drones by terrorists in the northeast. Alongside these defence moves, the government is reviewing its national science and innovation policies to fund local research and boost tech-driven development.

JAMB also engaged independent experts to review the anomaly, assuring the public of transparency and a commitment to fairness after scores dipped nationwide.
